In the fall of 2000 a committed group of young people brought the Bioneers Youth Initiative into being at an impromptu lawn gathering at the Bioneers Conference in San Rafael, CA. Since that day, the Youth Initiative has grown into a thriving center of Bioneers' work, and has supported hundreds of visionary young leaders each year in getting more deeply involved in ecological and social restoration. A grassroots effort that recognizes and encourages the essential contributions of young people and educators in creating social and environmental change, the Bioneers Youth Initiative strives to:

* Foster leadership development, alliance-building and networking among youth and educators who are engaged in environmental and social justice work; and
* Provide youth leaders with educational resources and opportunities year-round to create positive change in their lives and communities.
