Judith F. Baca (Judy)
Judith F. Baca (www.sparcmurals.org), a native Angeleno visual artist, arts activist, community leader and educator best known for her large-scale public organizing murals that involve extensive community dialogues and participation, founded the first City of Los Angeles mural program in 1974, and the Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC) in Venice, California in 1976. In 1996 Baca created the UCLA/SPARC Cesar Chavez Digital/Mural Lab, a research, teaching, and production facility. She serves as a full professor in UCLA’s Chicano/Chicana Studies and World Arts and Cultures departments.
