Alejandro Argumedo

Alejandro Argumedo, a Quechuan agronomist from Peru actively working for the recognition of Indigenous peoples' rights at the U.N., is the director of the Quechua-Aymara Association for Sustainable Livelihoods (ANDES) based in Cusco, Peru, which works to protect indigenous knowledge and associated genetic resources. He is also the founder of the Indigenous Peoples Biodiversity Network, a member of the World Commission on Protected Areas, and vice-chair of Indigenous Affairs for the IUCN's Commission on Environment, Economics and Social Policy.
