Lawrence De Freitas became South Central Los Angeles' Community Services Unlimited's (CSU) first youth apprentice in 2004 and subsequently helped create the first CSU urban mini-farms. He then became a program assistant and is now a program associate working on urban farm site maintenance and CSU's Youth Empowerment Project. He has also worked with Los Angeles Conservation Corps.
