When he was secretary of resources for the State of California, he conceived and implemented a hundred-year plan for managing the state's natural resources that achieved lasting gains in forest restoration, salmon recovery, water and wetlands conservation, and renewable energy. Winner of the UN's Sasakawa Environment Prize and founder of Trust for Public Land, Mr. Johnson is currently working to establish green planning in the U.S.
