From the Cloud Institute For Sustainability Education:
The 2008 Advanced Summer Institute Preserving the Ethnosphere will integrate rich literature from both anthropology and sociology regarding the cultural web of life as a way to imbed arts and culture in the core content and instructional approaches of Education for Sustainability (EfS). The ethnosphere, according to anthropologist Wade Davis, is the sum total of all the thoughts, beliefs, myths, and institutions brought into being by the human imagination. It is humanity's greatest legacy, embodying everything we have produced as a curious and amazingly adaptive species. Attendees will learn how to incorporate art and sustainability in the classroom, using various methodologies such as storytelling, photography, interviews, bookmaking, and more.
The cost of the five-day Advanced Summer Institute is $750 and will be held in New York City. Fee includes field trips, guest speaker, materials, and daily lunch. Please register at 2008 Advanced Summer Institute Preserving the Ethnosphere.
