Jo Ann Baumgartner is the director of the Wild Farm Alliance (WFA), whose mission is to promote a healthy, viable agriculture that protects and restores wild nature, i.e. ecologically managed farms that gracefully meld into landscapes and help support the full range of native species and ecosystem services. Jo Ann is co-editor of Farming and the Fate of Wild Nature: Essays in Conservation-Based Agriculture and the author of many WFA Briefing Papers. Before joining WFA in 2001, she was the senior research editor for Life on the Edge, a book about California's rare wildlife species, and was an organic farmer for over a decade.
