San Francisco – East Palo Alto – Stanford
Founded in 1998 by Jasmina Bojic, film critic and educator, United Nations Association Film Festival is an international documentary film festival originally established as a collaborative project between the UNA Mid Peninsula chapter and the Stanford Film Society in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
UNAFF offers a unique opportunity for creative exchange and education among groups and individuals often separated by geography, ethnicity and economic constraints. UNAFF program includes hosting an annual international film festival at Stanford University on October 19-26, with screenings in San Francisco on October 20, East Palo Alto on October 21 and a Traveling Film Festival (TFF) in various locations in the US and abroad. The TFF has been hosted in more than 24 cities throughout the US and had its international premiere in Paris and Venice last May.
The theme for the 11th UNITED NATIONS ASSOCIATION FILM FESTIVAL (UNAFF) October 19-26, 2008 is “BLUE PLANET, GREEN PLANET.” This year also celebrates the 60th anniversary signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Last year three hundred sixty submissions from all over the world were reviewed for the 10th annual UNAFF. The jury selected 32 films to be presented dealing with the topics from Afghanistan, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, China, Croatia, Cuba, France, Haiti, Kenya, Iceland, India, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Iran, Israel, Italy, Lesotho, Macedonia, Mongolia, Nigeria, Norway, Palestine, Peru, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Spain, Sudan, Uganda, the UK, Ukraine, the US, Vietnam and Zambia.
