Green Gathering 2008“Cultivating a Responsible Community” The Green Gathering is an annual, one day event held in Port Huron, Michigan. The focus of this event is to bring “green” products, services, and inspirations to residents of Michigan’s thumb area – making it easy to “go green”. While the event is centered in Port Huron, it draws attendees from all over. We advertise through various newspapers and radio stations, as well as with flyers, informational handouts prior to the event, and online presence on such popular sites as Myspace and Facebook. We also maintain a forum at www.bluewaterbeat.org/ in order to encourage community involvement. This year, the event runs from 10am until 7pm on Saturday, August 16th. We ask that those wishing to set up booths or tables do so before 11am at the latest. There will be a volunteer crew available to help with set up and break down, should an organization require such help. Presenters are responsible for providing their own equipment, including tables and tents or tarps in case of inclement weather. The Green Gathering volunteer group is not responsible for any loss or damage to goods/equipment that any individual or group incurs. There is no charge to vend or present, and no fee for the public attending the event. We do ask that if you are considering participating as a vendor or other presenter, that you also consider donating $15-$25 to help support your fellow vendors/presenters. This may be through an actual donation (as to a non-profit), through the purchase of products from Green Gathering vendors, or through the discount of goods/services to Green Gathering attendees. In addition to environmentally friendly goods and services, we also feature speakers on various topics, live music throughout the day, performance by The Magician Keefe, an “Education Zone” featuring various stations designed to educate young and old, and much more! This year we are excited to be adding the showing of short educational movies with strong environmental impacts, as well as the addition of market foods for sale. We encourage bringing a blanket to sit on, whether it is to soak up some sun and commune with nature in this beautiful park bordering on the St. Clair River, to view movies or performers, or eat a picnic lunch. Come spend the day with us and learn how easy (and fun!) “going green” can be!
