Bioneers Presenter: Diane Wilson

Diane Wilson, a mother of five and a fourth-generation shrimper who began fishing the bays off the Gulf Coast of Texas at the age of eight and was a boat captain by age 24, became one of the world's most famous anti pollution activists as she waged a heroic one-woman battle against the petrochemical plants dumping toxins into her bay. Her tireless work on behalf of the people and aquatic life of Seadrift, Texas, has won her a slew of awards. A co-founder of Code Pink for Peace and the Texas Jail Project (a prison reform group she co-founded after being jailed 20 times for civil disobedience), Wilson continues to fight for social justice. She is the author of An Unreasonable Woman, and the brand new: Holy Roller; Growing up in the Church of Knock Down and Drag Out; or How I quit Loving the Blue-Eyed Jesus, about growing up Pentecostal in the South.
