Hello fellow esteemed bioneers, please join me in supporting Ron Paul for president. Most of us realize that the reason activism is not as effective as it should be is because we do not truely live in a democracy but merely the guise of one. Ron Paul has said many times that we need to work on democracy here in the U.S., set the example, rather than violently impose it upon other nations. Ron Paul is the only candidate with the integrity to truly topple the corporate-military-industrial complex and restore sense and decency to the government. During his 10 years in Congress he voted against the Iraq War, against the Patriot Act, against every congressional pay raise, the continuation of the War on Drugs..... If you’re not familiar with him, basically he is a constitutional Libertarian believing in small federal government, state’s rights, and locally controlled government. He would close all military bases overseas and bring all U.S. troops home immediately! He would close many of the departments, Homeland Security would probably be first, the CIA, and even the department of Education. I understand why this might worry some, but think about your child’s school. You have the teacher, the principle, the school board, the PTA, and the state government all working to improve standards etc., and then you have this huge federal department of Education. What more can they really do than add another layer of bureaucracy? Real good honest change only seems to happen when local people get together and make it happen, we know this, but the many complicated layers of federal government make it so very difficult for the average person to navigate the system. This is not democracy and it is wrong. America needs to drastically scale back its government. He may sound very radical and idealistic but this man is very intelligent and has well thought out plans to gradually implement his ideas…. (see his weekly column Texas Straight Talk http://www.house.gov/paul/). He would never sacrifice his principles for the sake of the economy. His principles being firmly grounded in the Constitution. Now I know you’re all wondering what this has to do with the environment, it’s the most important issue for me also, and it took me awhile to become a staunch Paul supporter because I know that he is not the most educated person on the subject (though he is an organic farmer!). He believes that most environmental problems stem from a disregard for property rights. The air and waters would not have become polluted if these properties of the commons were respected as being so. http://www.ronpaul2008.com/issues/environment/Personally I believe the Earth to be a sanctioned being, but I think this is a wonderfully productive stance for the government to take. Just imagine if companies were not allowed to pollute and destroy resources that we all depend on! But secondly, any person that we can get into this office who is committed to squashing corporate power will do a world of good for our Earth…. I see no other canidate committed to or capable of bring down corporate rule (though I believe Obama to be a nice person). He is truly the freedom canidateSo please join me… If every environmental group in the country ralleyed around this man he would stand a fighting chance. Do it for your country and your planet.
Thank you.
