Valuable Fundraising Help Offered to Nonprofits
National network expands its mission of supporting nonprofits that serve people and planet
An exciting new partnership between The Orion Grassroots Network and GrantStation.com is helping thousands of grassroots groups raise funds to increase their efficacy. Beginning this month, the Orion Grassroots Network is matching up its 1,100 member groups with the excellent tools and know-how offered by GrantStation.com, the web’s premier fundraising resource.
“Grassroots groups everywhere are changing society for the better, and in many cases they’re doing it with very little funding,” according to Erik Hoffner, Coordinator of the Orion Grassroots Network, based in Great Barrington, MA. “One in five of these groups function on less than $25,000 each year, and one in twenty have no budget at all, relying solely on volunteer power to achieve their missions. This austerity inhibits their capacity and programming, and causes high rates of staff turnover. Helping these organizations build their bank accounts through improved fundraising efforts will greatly increase their ability to make positive change.”
Founded in 1997, The Orion Grassroots Network supports the work of organizations whose work benefits people and planet in forty-nine states and ten countries, including nature centers, watershed councils, peace and justice programs, environmental education groups, land trusts, sustainable agriculture projects, youth development programs, and more. For $45 per year, the Network helps its members increase their effectiveness, and the addition of access to GrantStation (a $599/year value) to its services package makes the benefits of membership clear.
Cynthia Adams, CEO of GrantStation, describes this partnership as a natural outgrowth of her desire to help grassroots organizations, following decades of personal involvement with a number of nonprofits in Alaska, where the company is based. “I created GrantStation to help build financially stable nonprofits. The idea behind this partnership with Orion is to provide as many grassroots organizations as possible with low-cost or no-cost access to the tools and resources they need to identify the right grant maker for their programs and projects.”
The Orion Grassroots Network is a program of The Orion Society, a nonprofit organization dedicated to healing the rift between nature and human culture. The Orion Society also publishes Orion magazine, which explores the world's growing ecological awareness and the need for cultural change.
