The Living Water Solar System

INTRODUCTION
Dear Friend
Considering the ever growing number of global catastrophes, the total number of souls lost, due to the earthquake in Pakistan and the untold thousands swept away by the wind, flooding and storm surges of Katrina and Rita in the Gulf Coast region, the tsunami in South Asia, flooding in Bangladesh and the hideous ,ravages of war, all combined the associated mortality rate has exceeded 1/2 million souls lost. It has been estimated that the collateral toll could soar as high as 2 to 3 times those initial numbers mostly due to water borne disease. However, as revolting as those statistics are, there is an even more appalling loss of millions of lives every year, to grinding poverty and starvation, mostly due to severely weakened immune systems caused by water supplies that are insufficient or in most cases contaminated beyond useability. Here is an urgently needed solution to the dire water problems.

The Living Water Solar System
An Extremely Cost Efficient
Solar Powered Water Purification System
For Small Community, Village and Relief Applications.

Water quality affects not only the health, quality of life and vitality of a community but also the mortality of all living things. 87% of ones body weight is water and to maintain a robust state of being, whether from the food we eat or the liquids we drink, the water we consume must be healthful, invigorating and wholesome.

By integrating form into function, Lodestone Engineering has designed, built and patented a solar powered water purification system to satisfy water supply needs in village, small community and emergency relief applications. The Living Water Solar System (LWSS), powered by free solar energy only, is the most simple, efficient, reliable and affordable water purification system in the world. In fact the first proof of concept of this system is still operational and has been in continuous, reliable use for more than 25 years, with almost no maintenance required at all.

Our mission is to scale up the technology to satisfy the greatest most common and urgent need of humanity, Safe and Plentiful Drinking Water for All.

The LWSS (Living Water Solar System) is the most advanced, efficient and affordable means of water purification on Earth, producing only the highest quality water for the very least amount of energy, capital expenditure and maintenance. Using only free solar energy and an available water supply, a single unit will convert polluted water into the highest quality, most refreshing drinking water that money, shells, or "good will" can buy.

A Living Water Solar System installation is a growing array of solar powered water purification modules that are cast in concrete on location by the local populace. Once installed, the system, powered by free solar energy only, is passive, completely silent in operation and nearly maintenance free. Any village that has access to source water regardless of quality, sun-light and an installed Living Water Solar System, will have a pure water supply for life. The design is so effective that it can transform sea-water, brackish or even black water if necessary, into the most pure and delicious water known to man. (To remove volatile organic compounds present in feed water, a secondary charcoal batch polish may be advised.)

Because the process produces such high quality water, the toxic, bacterial and pathogenic loads being eliminated, the immune systems of all those using the LWSS will be relieved and fortified, thus reducing the need for medicines. The medicines that are still required to fight and prevent disease from other sources of infection can be administered at reduced dosages. The surplus meds can then be shared with others who would otherwise not have access or be able to afford them.

For remote village, impoverished or relief areas, the following least cost, local work project version is formed on site in molded concrete by the indigenous population for permanent installation. Concrete materials and labor being available nearly everywhere on earth, these systems can be made with local resources and labor. Not only will they fabricate their own potable water supply system, but create much-needed jobs, community involvement and a sense of pride in having developed their own precious life source potable water supply. This is a technology that will over time, ease if not eliminate much of the grinding burden of disease and poverty.

Each unit requires about 90 pounds of concrete cement, a glass cover, a seal, a lining for scale abatement and labor. Using common cement and allowing two days to cure, enough time to extract the unit from the mold, a single mold will produce 180+ units per year. (Because of unknown and varying environmental conditions, some environmental combinations can boost the productivity of the system to over two gallons a day. In order to remain on the conservative side, all calculations will be derived from a one unit every two days and one gallon per day figure.)

The system, being a modular array can be added to and grown to produce substantial streams of the highest quality water known to man for lifetimes to come. By the end of the first year, assuming that only common concrete cement is used and that only one unit comes on line every two days, the hundreds of units produced from this single tool, will be producing in the neighborhood of 180 gallons per day and will continue to produce over 65,000 gallons per year with an additional 365 more gallons per unit year, coming on line every second day thereafter. By the end of 10 years a field of 1800+ LWSS units will have produced over 3 million gallons. If quick set concrete cement is used, two or more units can be produced in a single day and these figures could be increased by the correlating factor.

But most surprising of all is not that the LWSS can transform over a gallon per unit day of polluted source water into the highest quality water known to man using only Free Solar Energy for decades to come, but all of this can be had for a one time cost, in the very pleasant neighborhood of about $60. per unit. It is estimated that the indigenous populations in the regions affected by the tsunami have an average income of only $2.00 per person per day, it will take only a few days to own a LWSS A lifetime of value is realized that by far exceeds its capital investment.

Once in a lifetime for a lifetime of pure drinking water and health. Is there any health insurance this affordable anywhere? Even the poorest of populations can afford it. In fact the poorest among us are those who can least afford not to have it. Who can afford to live without the Living Water Solar System?

What greater gift is there than that of LIFE and LIFE, more abundantly. Do you have the desire to lend a helping hand to those in need? It is my desire and goal to have this system in operation in every place around the globe where scarce or contaminated water supplies are a source of harm to mankind. Will you help me make this dream come true and save thousands if not millions of lives? This is a private non-incorporated mission and no matter how great or small, your generous financial gifts of support will help to share this mission throughout the world.

A small but very important note. If one is Donating or Tithing to store up Treasures In Heaven, then a private not incorporated ministry such as this is the way to go. If one is Donating or Tithing for a Tax Write-off, then a 501(c)(3) corporation is the way to go. If one is Donating or Tithing for both, Treasures In Heaven and a Tax Write-off, concerning the Treasures In Heaven element, I would like to suggest that Matthew 6:1-4, 24 be consulted, so that none will be disappointed.

The Living Water Solar System

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

David Wetzel, Lodestone Engineering - Principal

Executive Summary
The recent mega disasters that are plaguing our globe have moved Lodestone Engineering to provide its expertise in solar powered water purification systems through licensing of its technical expertise and technology. The licensees will include private individuals, commercial enterprises, NGOs and/or governmental agencies. The intention is to provide low-cost, high-efficiency, durable water systems to relieve short-term water crisis and long term solutions for a pure and steady water supply in regions of need. The Living Water Solar System (LWSS) can be produced in volume on-site by the local population and be brought on-line to produce high quality drinking water within a matter of days. While providing short-term relief, the proposed units would also provide long-term, low-cost potable water in an in situ setting suitable for villages and small communities in remote areas, while augmenting municipal systems in urban communities.
Lodestone proposes to provide immediate technical assistance and direction to establish low-cost manufacturing of its solar powered water distillation systems in any region of need to the indigenous populations. The LWSS (Living Water Solar System) consists of a passive, four part system: a molded concrete thermal collector; a black liner; a glass condenser plate; and seal. All materials are globally available at low cost.
Our motivations are driven by humanitarian concerns. We seek to provide services backed by proven technologies, patented and improved upon by Lodestone's proprietary research and development, and to support widespread implementation of LWSS systems throughout the regions in need and eventually the entire world. Each mold, with moderate care, will produce up to 2000 water distillation units or more. By the end of the molds' useful life, this translates to about 2000 gallons per day for what could be a lifetime or more.

Ministry and Missions

The Roll and Impact that the LWSS will have in Ministry and Missions is incalculable. As a team of missionaries goes forth and plants the seeds of Christ's Love in the hearts of the people, a LWSS representative will follow, identify a local individual or ministry to license the LWSS technology to, who can underscore the depth of God's Love, by watering their souls of the people.

Technology Licensing and Training
(All amounts are negotiable in U.S. Dollars. Cooperatives or Sponsorships may be necessary.)

Lodestone will site license its proprietary design and molding technology to private individuals, commercial enterprises, NGO and/or governmental agencies.
Lodestone will also provide instructions, as well as on-site training required to implement manufacturing and initial technical support to train local laborers in the setting up of manufactured systems at selected sites in the region. Its design requires little to no technical expertise to manufacture, set-up, operate or maintain. Pictorial instructions obviate the need for literacy skills for users, allowing the unit to be installed and operated reliably and safely in remote locales continuously over its extended useful life.
License fees would be payable in two increments: fifty percent (50%) upon agreement, with the balance due just prior to shipment.

General Product Design and Functional Description:
Lodestone Engineering has developed a passive, durable, inexpensive and reliable distillation system. The initial prototype installation has been in operation and functioning reliably for nearly three decades. Each unit will produce potable water efficiently over an extended useful life of over ten years at an extremely low initial, per-unit cost. Its LWSS units produce potable water at an approximated average rate of about one gallon or more per day, at an amortized cost of approximately a quarter-cent USD or less per gallon, ($0.0025 USD). A production rate of one gallon of potable water per day combined with food source water, is sufficient for the minimum consumption needs of a family of four, (these rates will vary according to environmental conditions of the installation.)

Product Materials, Construction and Design Rationale
LWSS units consist of four components: thermal collector, a black conformal liner, seal and glass condensation plate. There are no moving parts. Materials of construction are universally available at viable costs in developing countries.
LWSS relies on the thermal differential between the heat of the batch water being purified in the evaporation troughs of the thermal collector and the cooler condenser plate to drive the distillation process. A series of evaporation troughs, conformal to segments of an "Archimedes Spiral" are molded into the face of the collector to provide maximum surface area and enhanced function and efficiencies. This was noted as a significant improvement over the system developed by the Brace Institute in a report critiquing the unit by the World Health Organization, (Somunek Unakuos, WHO).

Thermal Collector:
The thermal collector is a molded concrete structure approximately 3.5 ft. in width by 3.5 ft. in height, set on the ground at an angle most appropriate to the sun according to the latitude of the installation site.
In this application, concrete is the material of choice given its universal availability, high thermal density, durability and low cost, affording efficient use of absorbed heat for water distillation well beyond times of actual direct solar exposure.
The use of "Archimedes Spiral" troughs on the molded collector provides a profile which allows the base to be set at an angle optimizing solar exposure over the available surface area in comparison to conventional units set on a flat plane. This provides the highest possible thermal insolation with enhanced efficiency. Use of the troughs also maximizes capture of reflected and refracted radiant heat and sunlight through the glass condenser plate and off the surface of the process water.

Thermal Collector Liner:
Before concrete is poured into the mold to form the thermal collector, a proprietary, FDA approved black liner is set into the troughs of the mold. This material is UV stable material, will not absorb contaminates, out-gas nor contaminate product water over its' service life. Upon removal from the mold, the liner conforms to the surface of the molded concrete thermal collector and remains in place until removal and replacement for cleaning.
The black liner is initially used to help extract the thermal collector from the tool after the molding process, its' black surface then functions to convert solar energy into the heat that drives the process and then to facilitate periodic cleaning of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and salts scale that will precipitate out of solution in the distillation process. To clean the unit, the semi-rigid liner is simply lifted out of the thermal collector and shaken to remove the scale, as needed and then replaced onto the thermal collector.

Condensation Plate:
The condenser is a plate of clear tempered glass that is forty-two inches square. For safety, tempered glass only is used. The preferred glass for condensation plates is tempered low-iron glass, though commercial tempered float-glass may be substituted. Low-iron glass is preferred as the light green hue of standard glass, absorbs solar energy and converts to heat within the glass, increasing the condenser plates temperature and thereby reducing condensation efficiency. Commercial tempered float glass may be used, but a slight loss in thermal efficiency will be realized.
Glass is used to achieve a totally wetted surface. The characteristic of glass to attain a totally wetted surface allows the water vapor to evenly condense and produce a completely transparent sheeting effect, flowing down the plate surface to a molded collection trough and out a tube to a collection container for consumption. Various clear and translucent plastics have been evaluated for this application, but none, to date have been found suitable, as water droplets form on plastic surfaces rather than sheeting. The formation of these droplets on a plastic condenser plate causes a reflector like effect greatly reducing the amount of energy absorbed and resulting in spot condensation that causes the heavy water droplets to fall back into the process water, making it highly inefficient.

Seal:
The LWSS is a closed system. To maximize heat retention and eliminate infiltration of contamination, the condenser plate is seated on the thermal collector using a flexible closed cell foam seal. Seals are constructed of suitable food-grade synthetic closed cell foam materials which are readily available at a small price throughout the world.

Now That's,

The Living Water Solar System

And So Much More To Come.

Inventors Biography

David Wetzel, the inventor of The Living Water Solar System, was raised in a home which encouraged his natural creative inventor talents. In grade school he took a special interest in science and by sixth grade he had discovered his aptitude for engineering.
As a teen, Mr. Wetzel admired Benjamin Franklin, Nicholi Tesla, Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, Henry Ford, and a host of other inventors and innovators. Mr. Wetzel began preparing for his career as an inventor by making balsa wood gliders and planes and ornate laminated skateboards. This led him into the study of the dynamics of weather, gravity, magnetics, electrical, thermal and solar energy, the hydrologic cycle, aerodynamics, hydrodynamics and the interplay of harmonics between materials, geometry and energy.
As a soldier with the 4th Infantry Division in Viet Nam, he was decorated with a Bronze Star and promoted for his mastery and excellence as a Ballistics Meterologist. Later he was transfered to the 101st Airborne Divisions Tactical Operations Center aka. "war room" where he was assigned the postition of Combat Air Controller. Again for his excellence, "above and beyond the call of duty", he was decorated with a second Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster.
As a civilian, David Wetzel became a prodigious Inventor and Machinist. As an engineer/machinist for McDonnell Douglas AeroSpace and Solar operations in the early to mid 1970s, he invented and built many important advances in tooling and technology, including the nuts he built for the Space Shuttle program. Every time the Space Shuttle launches, the nuts with explosive bolts are called into service to hold the massive Solid Rocket Boosters and Shuttle assembly erect for launch.
During that same time period, his father, Grant was the West Coast representative for Hach Co., the first and foremost manufacturer of water test equipment. He was continually bringing home samples of water from his various clients. The samples demonstrated a very rapid rate of decline in water quality. David saw this as a wide open opportunity to make a difference. He formulated a plan to develop the most cost-effective, high-performance and energy-efficient water purification system under the sun. David diligently researched all the various forms of water treatment throughout history. He studied water filled copper vessels sitting in the sun, freezing and electrodialysis of water, micro-filtration, reverse osmosis and multi-effect boiling, etc. Solar Distillation proved to be the best solution. David then researched every solar distillation system he could find in prior history, gleaning only the best design features, he fabricated the tooling to build his revolutionary new design. He prepared and made the tooling ready to construct the first unit on the next morning, but that evening he was blessed with a genuine 3-D vision of something entirely different than anything he had ever seen before. The geometry was so elegant and efficient that he knew that this was the design that he needed to produce. Hence, the birth of the Living Water Solar System.
On the roof of the family home is the original unit that has been in continuous and almost maintenance-free operation for nearly 3 decades. Over the years, David has made a number of modifications and refinements to the original design. Now he has developed concepts for a full range of solar powered residential appliances. They include: home water purification, water and space heating, photo voltaics and solar lighting. He also has concepts for disaster relief, village projects and a full utility scale Solar Powered Only, Hybrid Sea Water Desalination plant design. In All Things, Giving Thanks.

Urgency of the Matter - Water

Mr. David Wetzel,
It has taken long before SOME of us got the grip on global warming. Well, it will take a while before shortage of water, ground water becomes a reality to all. Unfortunately, it will have to make it's hard landing before the legislation acts upon it in most countries.

BUT!

I would like to believe that we can avoid that by small scale antenna counties in each country as a display of ideal.

Aloha, my bro,
Would love to keep in touch,
