Jay Harman is President and CEO of Pax Scientific, a biomimicry-based engineering, research and product design firm, which he founded in 1996. He became involved with Bioneers by attending the annual conference in Marin, California and gave his first contribution in 2006. He has since been a Bioneers plenary speaker twice over, and participated as a workshop panelist.
The Bioneers conference is an opportunity to share ideas widely.
I heard about Bioneers after moving to California to start a biomimicry business in 1996, although the field was not yet called that. I went to the Bioneers conference and have not missed one since. I have been honored to participate in workshop panels and two plenaries over the years.
The Bioneers community is fertile ground that nurtures solutions.
I think the work of Bioneers is fundamental to the survival of our species. The only way we can overcome our hardwired, short-term thinking is to communicate, educate and break through to shared solutions. Bioneers reminds me that my team and I are not alone in our work. We are turning the tide to a new way of living and thriving in harmony with nature. Tremendous satisfaction comes from investing in the life-sustaining mission of Bioneers!
Bioneers is an invaluable resource for information and networking.
I listen to Bioneers conference talks throughout the year and visit their website often. I have confidence in the organization’s connections, so I am inclined to learn more about initiatives they support.
Additionally, Bioneers’ mission is aligned with our company’s mission. Being involved with Bioneers helps our business connect with clients and shareholders who are already “on the same page” about the ways we can transform our lives and allow business to do good work for the planet while also doing well financially.
Bioneers invests in the growth of a new generation.
Bioneers is already changing the world and I can see evidence of the growth of the Bioneers community by watching the conferences, website, outreach, etc. I am hopeful that its educational outreach through the Education for Action program will help give our youth the skills they need to create a healthy and sustainable life for all of us on this beautiful planet.
