Living Downstream
SANTA ROSA ROOM - Saturday, October 16, 2010
6:30 pm
Based on the acclaimed book by ecologist and cancer survivor Sandra Steingraber, Ph.D. (dubbed the Rachel Carson of her generation), Living Downstream is an eloquent and cinematic feature-length documentary including footage from her plenary speech at the 2008 Bioneers Conference.
Dr. Steingraber’s
poetic and haunting narration traces her year across North America,
working to break the silence about cancer and its environmental links. By doing so, she breaks down the barriers between the private and public
as she is suddenly thrust into a period of medical uncertainty. Living Downstream is a powerful reminder of the intimate connection between the
health of our bodies, the health of our air, land and water, and the
importance of individual activism.
