Building community for change is what Bioneers is all about. Each year we partner with socially responsible, leading-edge companies and organizations to produce what has become one of the most dynamic environmental conferences in the country. These organizations are unusual in the extent to which their products and practices reflect their commitment to restoring the Earth and communities. The Bioneers policy has been to collaborate with green businesses that conduct their operations with a high level of integrity and quality.

We are proud to share an ecosystem with partners deserving of our attention and our patronage. Through these relationships, we are aided in our endeavor to green not only the conference but all of our operations.

Check out the links in this section to find out more about how to get involved and learn about resources for greening your own organization or business.

Keeping it Green

As a community coming together at Bioneers to offer and celebrate solutions for restoring the Earth, we must be aware of our individual and collective practices, at the conference and in our home communities. For the last 6 years, we have been engaged in a focused effort to transform the conference culture towards zero waste by designing waste out of the system wherever possible.

The Greening Bioneers project grew out of a youth-led conversation at Bioneers in 2001, envisioning a more environmentally sustainable conference. Since then, we have drastically reduced our ecological footprint and diverted thousands of pounds of would-be "waste" through recycling and composting.

Be Part of the Solution

We can't green Bioneers without your help and participation. Make choices that nurture our precious planet, and thank you for your partnership.

  • Carpool to the Conference: Click here to offer or find a ride on our bulletin board
  • Bring a bag or backpack to carry any items you may purchase or collect at the conference
  • Select only handouts that you will read, and then pass them on to a friend or return them
  • Reuse paper
  • Carry your own water bottle
  • Bring your own mug for coffee and drinks
  • Avoid using paper towels
  • Use the Resource Recovery Stations for recycling, compost and trash
  • Recycle whatever you can, including your name badge at the end of the event
  • Help create nutrient-rich Bioneers soil by composting
