How the site is organized

The main site, www.bioneers.org, is where you can

register for the conference and find out more about the organization.

Also found on the main site:

Beaming Bioneers is where you can find out about all about satellite conferences.

The Store is where you can buy all the presentations from our conference, as well as hear some free podcasts.

Additionally, each month we are adding a new, specialized, content domain, dedicated to the issues and work of the Bioneers.

Currently live, we have Ecological Medicine, Ecological Design, Youth Leadership, Social and Environmental Activism and Food and Farming. Stay tuned for new domains including Women's Leadership, the Arts, Independent/Alternative Media, Environmental Education and more!

Each domain allows for users to post to a domain-specific blog, calendar, forum and read and comment on cutting-edge articles from the Bioneers archives and our partners.

 

 


Audio Download (MP3) Tips

Audio downloads on bioneers.org are in the MP3 format. Purchase the audio downloads through the store. After completing the transaction, to retrieve your audio download:

  • Click on "my files" on the navigation bar on the right. You will find links to download the audio directly to your desktop.
  • Or, return to the product page of the audio you purchased and you may play it directly from the web page by clicking on the play button.*

* There is no expiration to the audio files once you have downloaded them. However, the ability to play the audio directly from the website expires after seven days.


Commenting on / Emailing Articles

Every article on the site has two links at the bottom.

"Add new coment" brings up an interface for adding your comments to the article.

"Email this page" allows you to send a link to the article to a friend.


Creating a Blog entry

Your blog is an important part of Bioneers website. Your contributions will be featured directly on our homepage. As a contributor to our site, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to get your content up. That is why we've created this step by step tutorial.

To begin, lets take a look at you personal blog page. At this point it might be helpful to open another window and go to the bioneers.org homepage, that way you'll still be able to read this documentation as you follow along. To open another window,

click here -> http://www.bioneers.org

If you look in the lavendar navigation sidebar on the right side of the page (which I'll refer to as the "right-sidebar"), you'll see a link to "my blog" under section of the right-sidbar with your user name.

If you don't see this link, your probably not logged in. Once you click on this link you should load a page that looks like this:

Click on the "Post new blog entry" link and this will allow you to enter the Title of your new post:

 

Select from the subsite dropdown:

This will determine which section of the site your blog posts to. 

Now you're ready to add the Body of your entry.

The Body section of your post is a fairly standard WYSIWYG editor. As you can see there is a fairly standard selection of formating tools which allow you to make your text Bold, Italics, Underlined, Strikethrough, align-right, centered, align-left, justified, bulleted, numbered, undo, and redo. Leaving your mouse pointer hovered over each of these icons will pop-up context help describing what they do:

Go ahead and type in some text and try to play around with these formatting features.

Now we'll try to add some links to page. In order to add a link, you must first type a word you want to be the link. highlight it with your mouse. Now look at the toolbar just to right of all the formating features and you'll see what look like links in a chain:

Remeber: you must highlight the words you want to link to first, otherwise you will not be able to see the above link icon. Go ahead and click on the icon and a box should pop up:

Enter the URL of the site you want to link to. Make sure to enter the full address as it appears in your browser, remebering to include the http:// part at the begining. If you don't include the http:// your link will not work!

Igoring the Target, Title and Class fields, go ahead and click the Insert button.

You should now have a high lighted link in the body of your page.

 


How to post an Event

1. Log in

You need to be logged in to post on our site. Once your logged in you will see your Account name in the sidebar to the right -->

2. Create Content - Event

Click Event to create to get the page that let's you create and event.

3. Set start time and end time

All events must have a start and end time. (Even if your event is all day, or a couple of days you must pick an arbirary start time)

4. Time zone

Make sure to pick the time zone of the event.

5. Title: Enter the name of your event.

6. Domains:

Categories

Pick a subject that matches your event.

7. Description:

Describe your event. Make sure to be descriptive about the details of your event.

8. Location:

If your event has a location click the link that says Location after the Description box.

Enter as much Location information as you have, and don't worry about the Latitude and Longitude.

9. Submit

Click the Submit button and your event will be created. You can see your event on the Bioneers Calendar.


Reviewing Product

Help rate our products! All of our product on the store, have a link at the bottom that reads "Share your opinion!"

Click the submit button to publish it to the site.
