Speaking of Bioneers Radio, we were floored to learn that the Bioneers “Revolution From the Heart of Nature” radio series has taken the prestigious Silver award for a “full series” in the hugely competitive, globally sourced New York Festivals’ International Radio Program Awards. The category is “Editorial or Viewpoint Program.” It’s the “Oscars of Radio” With entrants from 32 countries this year, and this is the first time we entered the entirety of thirteen half-hour shows.
Honestly we didn’t think we had a prayer up against the likes of BBC, Canadian Broadcasting Company, Radio France, Sirius XM, all the networks and the wildly talented and creative independent producers who feed the mushrooming audio and podcast boom these days.
The heart of our shows is the voices of the Bioneers themselves, recorded at the conference and in supplementary interviews. That’s what this award is really about – this exceptional community of visionary leadership who are out there every day restoring nature and our human communities with breakthrough solutions from the heart of nature and the human heart.
We want to thank you as a devoted Bioneers donor for making all this possible! You power us to bring this game-changing work into the big wide world. Certainly it’s gratifying to receive this kind of recognition, but more importantly it helps the series and our other media get ever-wider reach and distribution.
Three individual programs were Finalists, which itself is a very significant honor. We hope you get a chance to hear them. This year it’s quite personal for us with very special meaning for two of them.
One show features the trailblazing parents of our Executive Director Joshua Fouts. Beginning in the ‘60s, Roger and Debbie Fouts steadily made the scientific case for animal rights by demonstrating the profound intelligence of chimps. The second showis the swan song of the late Tom Hayden, a bioneer since the early ‘90s. Tom dropped some serious wisdom at his last appearance at Bioneers 2015. We love you, Tom. (The third finalist is a hope-inspiring dive into urban resilience models and the unstoppable economic shift to clean energy.)
One of our major priorities this year is to keep dramatically expanding our media reach because most Americans today get their environmental education through media. Two recent short videos we produced have gone viral, topping a million viewers, and one has now hit 1.8M!
So congrats! Please help us keep spreading the word.
In our 28th year, Bioneers has already had an immense influence and engaged so many people to get involved and take informed action. Thank goodness Bioneers exists to meet this epic moment of radical transformation in the world to build an ecologically regenerative, socially just and creatively fulfilling world.
Part of our collective job as communicators is to show how our sandbox is a whole lot more exciting, fun and, yes, realistic. After all, be realistic – demand the impossible! And then make the impossible inevitable…
