Bioneers Co-Founders Recognized as Trailblazers in Restoring the Earth, Communities:
Kenny Ausubel and Nina Simons Receive the Goi Peace Award
San Francisco, CA – Sept. 27, 2017
This November, Bioneers founders Kenny Ausubel and Nina Simons will be honored as the 2017 recipients of the prestigious Goi Peace Award. They join the ranks of celebrated innovators and past honorees such as Bill Gates, scientist James Lovelock, Nigerian pro-democracy activist Hafsat Abiola-Costello, and Deepak Chopra.
Ausubel and Simons will receive the international prize for their “pioneering work to promote nature-inspired innovations for restoring the Earth and our human community,” said the Goi Peace Foundation. “Through the educational and community-building programs of Bioneers, your visionary leadership continues to inspire innovators from all walks of life to come together and co-create a more sustainable and harmonious future.”
The Goi Peace Award was established in 2000 by the Goi Peace Foundation, which works to promote consciousness, values and wisdom to create a culture of peace. It is presented annually to highlight individuals and organizations in various fields that have made outstanding contributions toward the realization of a peaceful and harmonious world. They are selected not only in recognition of their past achievements, but for their ongoing contribution to building a better future.
Bioneers is a nonprofit organization that highlights breakthrough solutions for restoring people and planet. Founded in 1990 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, by social entrepreneurs Kenny Ausubel and Nina Simons, Bioneers has acted as a fertile hub of social and scientific innovators with practical and visionary solutions for the world’s most pressing environmental and social challenges. A celebration of the genius of nature and human ingenuity, Bioneers connects people with solutions and each other.
Along with his Bioneers work, Ausubel is a journalist, author and filmmaker, currently producing the movie “Changing of the Gods,” about cycles of revolution and transformation across human history (2018 release). “We humbly accept this true honor of the Goi Foundation Peace Award, which is so deeply aligned with the vision and values of Bioneers, on behalf of the entire Bioneers community,” Ausubel said. “By its nature and design, Bioneers is a community of leadership. In the face of today’s wickedly complex challenges, leadership arises in and from community. Having seen this community and collective body of work evolve and mature over these nearly 30 years, we’re acutely focused now on educating ever-larger numbers of people and directly changing global society’s fundamental systems and the very ways we live on Earth. We are so grateful the Bioneers community exists at this epic moment to successfully meet these challenges.”
As a speaker, author and educator/facilitator, Simons inspires resilient leadership and social healing in all people, with a particular focus on women’s leadership and the restoration of the feminine principle in all its forms. “Now is the time when engaged action and creative leadership is needed from people of all ages, faiths, colors and disciplines.” Simons said, “and I’m so grateful that Bioneers is here to ignite and inspire it, while helping people to understand the interconnectedness of all the issues we face, and all beings on Earth.”
The Goi Peace Award ceremony will take place during the 2017 Goi Peace Foundation Forum to be held at Nikkei Hall in Tokyo on November 25th, 2017. The 2.5-hour event brings together more than 600 people, including business and social leaders, diplomatic and academic communities, and the general public.
