To draw awareness to the 100th anniversary of the Los Angeles Aqueduct and the vital importance of this water supply to the city, artist Lauren Bon and her Metabolic Studio created a stunning performance piece.
“100 Mules Walking the Los Angeles Aqueduct” is now the subject of a new documentary that premiered earlier this month on KCET, the nation’s largest independent public television station.
"100 Mules Walking the Los Angeles Aqueduct" was coordinated with support from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, which is using the centenary of the Aqueduct to spark dialogue about how to deliver water to the city for another hundred years.
Metabolic Studios has another action planned as well. "Bending the Los Angeles River Back into the City" will use a 72-foot water wheel to pierce through the concrete covering the Los Angeles River and reconnect with the land and people above.
